Welcome to Google Voice

Posted in General by Sheryl Breuker & Ken Camp on March 12th, 2009

Lots of buzz last night about Google rolling out the new iteration of GrandCentral as Google Voice. My account that we use for our Stardust business just got the upgrade. Here are some screenshots.

First the option to upgrade. If you’re a GrandCentral user, when your account is set to upgrade, this is what you’ll see at login.

The conversion process was very simple, and there’s a welcome aboard voice mail message waiting in tour inbox.

Lots of settings options that we’re exploring.

One thing I am very happy to report is that importing our Outlook address book as a CSV file. Since we share a common address book across both our Blackberries and Outlook, one of the biggest headaches we had with GrandCentral was the inability to purge and rebuild the contact list other than one entry at a time. This is a huge benefit.

We’re impressed with everything we see so far, and the number we’re using for our office number is our Google Voice number. It rings both of us whenever a call comes in and we see great potential for our use. And thanks to Craig Walker for getting us set up with a number in the 415 area code. We feel it’s really important to our work to have a presence in the Bay area, somewhere we’d like to live if the opportunity presents itself.

Sorry to hear how inefficient Google is about doing the rollout. You’d think as big as they are it would be rolled out globally within about a 24 hours window.

    Hope yours comes around soon.
